EARTH HOUR!!

I was just invited to join an event through facebook - It is called Earth Hour and below I have quoted from the invitation description:
"On March 29th, 2008 at 8pm local time Earth Hour will commence ALL AROUND THE WORLD. Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a POWERFUL MESSAGE about the need for action on global warming."

I checked out the event's website and thought it was an interesting idea and quite effective. I like the idea of inviting people to do something small and simple enough in an effort to raise awareness (a symbolic gesture, if you will). The funny thing is that if everyone does the same small thing, it becomes a huge thing and has a meaningful impact which can be felt & measured. The awareness campaign instantly becomes an action that contributes to alleviating the problem - awesome. You can read more about it at:
